I am Roy Nierdieck, owner and primary photographer for Red Dragon Photography. I’ve had a passion for art my whole life, beginning with drawing in the margin of my notes and homework in school.

I studied Commercial Art at Texas Tech University and am a graduate of the New York Institute of Photography. While attending Texas A&M University, I worked as a photographer for the University. I am a member of the American Society of Photographers (ASP), the Professional Photographers of America(PPA), Texas Professional Photographers Association (TPPA) and The Austin Guild of Professional Photographers Association (APPA). In 2024, I served on the Board of Directors of the Texas Professional Photographers Association.

In 2019, I became a Certified Professional Photographer through a rigorous program conducted by The Professional Photographers of America, whereby I was required to demonstrate my knowledge and skill in photography.

In 2021, I received my Master of Photography Degree from PPA and I was honored by APPA as the 2021 Austin Photographer of the Year.

In 2025, I was awarded the Master Artist  and Photographic Craftsman degrees from PPA, becoming the only Master Artist, Master Photographer, Photographic Craftsman, Certified Professional Photographer in the Greater Austin area
